Fall Coho Salmon On The Columbia

Location:  Columbia River

Season:  September – November

Weather:  Cool

Fall Coho Fishing
Fast Action & Aggressive Strikes

When the leaves turn, the river comes alive. The Fall Coho (Silver Salmon) run is all about action. If you love watching rods buckle and drags scream, this is the trip for you. It is high-energy fishing perfect for friends, families, and corporate groups.

  • The Quarry: Coho are the aggressors of the salmon family. They strike hard and fight wild, often rolling and jumping near the boat. They are fantastic table fare, with firm, orange-red meat perfect for the grill or smoker.

  • The Strategy: We fish actively. Whether we are trolling “Wiggle Warts” and spinners or casting into schools of fish, you will be holding the rod and feeling the bite. It is a hands-on experience that keeps everyone engaged.

  • River Conditions: Fall on the Columbia is spectacular. The water is cooling down, triggering the bite, while the air temperature is usually mild and comfortable.

  • Gear Up: The mornings are crisp, but afternoons can get warm. Layering is your best bet—a hoodie or fleece under a light windbreaker allows you to adjust as the day heats up.

  • Prime Time: September through November (October is the absolute peak for limits).
